Jo like any other child does not want roger skunk to be again rejected by his friends and hence finds skunk's mother wrong. Ultimately.she wants the wizard should hit mommy too and give the skunk the smell of roses again. But,as if defending his own mother, Jack refuses to end the story like this as he wants Jo to understand that parents know what is right and what is wrong for their children so children should believe and obey them.

Explanation:

The title "Should Wizard Hit Mommy" is apt and justified as the story revolves around the questions of understandings. Here the question mark in the title "Should Wizard Hit Mommy" focuses the reader's attention on the to well wishers of the main character –Roger Skunk .Here the little girl ,Jo wants the wizard to hit mummy but according to her father what the parents think is always right for their children .The child's thinking is simple and innocent .She fails to understand that her father wants to convey that mothers are above all blame .That is why Jo's passionate demand" Tomorrow I want you to tell me the story that wizard took the magic wand and hit the mommy" is met by the father's reply "No that's not the story" .Hence the author intentionally gives the story open-ended and the title has the question mark leaving it for the readers to decide whether the wizard hit mummy are spared her.
