Answer:

The last leaf has been the central point in the story. In the beginning the falling last leaf is associated with johnses ailments and her approaching death. Behramans last leaf conveys the message of courage ,hope and optimism. It saves johnse life and thus it is an appropriate title for the story.

Answer:

  • The story "THE LAST LEAF" is about a girl named JOHNSY, who was suffering from "PNEMONIA". She used to relate her illness with the leaves of an ivy creeper which she used to watch from her window. She had a feeling that when the last leaf of that ivy creeper will fall at that time only she'll die. These kind of negative thoughts made her condition worse.
  • One day, Johnsy told her friend SUE abut her feeling. From that day Sue started motivating her but was unsuccessful in it.
  • Then Sue told BEHRMAN, who was a good friend of both Johnsy & Sue n was really great painter and eagerly wanted to paint a master & even he was suffering of Pnemonia.
  • Then, Johnsy could realize that how much wrong she was because of Behrman only and his last intact masterpiece "THE LAST LEAF" .
  • But unfortunately the day when Behrman made his masterpiece 'THE LAST LEAF", became his last day as after that Behrman died of Pnemonia. But before leaving the whole world he was successful in making the masterpiece which saved the life of Johsy.
