Answer:

if oscar takes 1 hour to complete a work, justin takes 2.5 hours to complete the same work.

2.5x=60

x=24

10/6 + 10/24

7/12

The amount of work done in 10 days is 7/18.

GIVEN

Justin is one and half times less efficient than Oscar. Justin can complete a piece of work in 60 days.

TO FIND

What amount of work will be completed by them if they work together for 10 days?

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

It is given that,

Work done in 60 days by justin = 1

Work done in 1 day by Justin = 1/60

Efficiency of justin = 1/60

Efficiency of Oscar =

 =  \frac{4}{3}  \times  \frac{1}{60}  =  \frac{2}{90}  =  \frac{1}{45}

Amount of work done in 1 day together;

 =  \frac{1}{45}  +  \frac{1}{60}

 =  \frac{4+3}{180}  =  \frac{7}{180}

10 days work =

10 \times  \frac{7}{180}  =  \frac{7}{18}

Hence, The amount of work done in 10 days is 7/18.
