juxtaglomerular apparatus consists of three cell types. They are: the macula densa, a part of the distal convoluted tubule of the same nephron. juxtaglomerular cells, which secrete renin, specialized smooth muscle cells of the afferent arteriole, which supplies blood to the glomerulus.
