Equal Roots

To Find : value of k

Solution:

ax² + bx + c = 0

Real and Equal roots if  D = 0

Real  unequal roots if D > 0

non real roots if D < 0

D = b² - 4ac

kx²+ 6x + 1 = 0

a = k

b = 6

c = 1

D = 6²  - 4k

D = 0  as roots are Equal

=> 6² - 4k = 0

=> 4k = 36

=> k = 9

9x²+ 6x + 1 = 0

=> ( 3x +1 )² =  0

Value of k =  9
