let the rate is =r

now .....

p(1+r/100)²=2400

and ...

p(1+r/100)³=2520

=>p(1+r/100)²(1+r/100)=2520

=>2400(1+r/100)=2520

=>r/100=(2520/2400)-1

=>r=(120/2400)×100=5

therefore the rate was =5%
