The Kabuliwala Summary | Rabindranath Tagore. “Kabuliwala” by Tagore is a tale of heart-rending friendship between a 5-year-old Bengali girl Minnie and an Afghan moneylender, Abdur Rahman or Rahamat. The story beautifully ties a bond of mutual affection and the unconventional relationship between the two.
One of the lasting images of Afghans in India comes from Rabindranath Tagore's famous bittersweet story of a Kabuliwala, a dried fruit seller from Kabul, who strikes up a touching friendship with a little girl in Calcutta. But the story of real Kabuliwalas does not begin(or end) with Tagore.
The theme of "Kabuliwala" is mainly friendship. ... Apart, from their friendship, the relation of a father and a daughter has been portrayed very nicely. There are two such father-daughter relations mentioned in the story, Mini and her father and Rahamat and his daughter.
