Kalpana Chawla's death is still not forgotten by us and continue to give for her miserable death. All seven astronauts died, bearing mission specialists of STS-107. The insulation system had broken and the thermal protection system was no longer functional.
The unfavorable conditions were mainly responsible behind her untimely death, when all were expecting her to come back safe from her space travel.
She belonged to a very mediocre family and worked very hard to acquire higher education to go to the United States of America fore higher studies. Girls could not reach to the same path in those times.
However her parents had been very supportive. She was the first woman from India, to reach space and she had pursued aeronautical engineering by profession.
She took it further by reaching NASA to develop her career and in the year 2003, she died unfortunately in Columbia space-jet.
