and his mother age be y year

From the 1st condition,

x=1/3y. .,......... equation 1

From the 2nd condition,

(y-6)=5(x-6)

y-6=5x-30

5x-y=-6+30

5x-y=24

putting the value of x

5×1/3y-y=24

5/3y-y=24
