Kamal reads 1/3 of book on 1st day, therefore remaining book to read= 2/3
and he reads 1/4 of remaining on 2nd day i.e.
2/3×1/4
=1/6
remaining part =2/3-1/6=3/6=1/2
let the total number of pages be x.
therefore 1/2x=200
or,x=200×2
or,x=400pages.
Answer-total no. of pages in book are 400 and he read 1/2 portion of book by 2nd day that is 200 pages.

let the total number of pages =x
Kamal reads 1 / 3 of a book on the first day which is x / 3
now the remaining portion is x-x/3= (2x)/3

Kamal reads one fourth of the remaining portion on the 2nd day which is (1/4)*((2x)/3)
=x/6

no the remaining portion is x-((x/3)+(x/6) = x-(x/2) = x/2
200 pages are left to be read

x/2 = 200
x= 400
no of pages= 400

total number of pages are 400 and he reads 1/2 portion of books
