Given : Kamala and Vimala bought two television sets of same price. They sold one television set each.

Kamala had 5% loss and Vimala had 2% loss from the transaction.

Kamala received Rs.135 less than Vimala,

To Find : cost price of a single television set

Solution:

let say cost price of single set = 100C  Rs

Kamala had 5% loss  = (5/100) 100C  = 5C  Rs

Vimala had 2% loss = (2/100)100C  = 2C    Rs

As cost price are same hence difference in loss is equal to  difference in amount received

=>  5C - 2C  = 135

=> 3C = 135

=> C =  45

=> 100C  = 4500

Cost price of a single television set   = Rs 4500
