Let Kavya's present age be x years

Therefore,

Kavya's mother present age

= (3 whole 1/2 × x) years

= 7/2 × x years

= 7x/2 years

7x/2 + 2 = 3 (x+2)

or, (7x×1 + 2×2) / 2 = 3×x + 3×2

or, (7x + 4) / 2 = 3x + 6

or, 7x + 4 = 2 (3x + 6)

or, 7x + 4 = 2×3x + 2×6

or, 7x + 4 = 6x + 12

or, 7x - 6x = 12 - 4

or, x = 8

Answer :- Kavya's present age = x = 8 years

kavya's mother present age = 7x/2 years

= 7×8/2 years

= 7 × 4 years

= 28 years
