Given : Khan and Shoaib decide to take a ratio of their ages. It comes out to be 5:4 respectively. Three years from now, the ratio of their ages will be 11 : 9 respectively.

To Find : Shoaib’s present age in years

Solution:

Let say Shoaib’s present age  = 4A  Years

Then Khan Present age = 5A  Years

After 3 Years  Khan age = 5A + 3

After 3 Years  Shoaib’s age = 4A + 3

ratio of their ages 11 : 9

=> (5A + 3 ) : ( 4A + 3) = 11 : 9

=> 9 (5A + 3) = 11(4A + 3)

=> 45A + 27 = 44A  + 33

=> A = 6

Shoaib’s present age  = 4A  = 24 Years

Shoaib’s present age in years = 24
