A fire person needs to use a ladder of 25 feet in length to rescue a cat that has become stuck in a tree. The tree is 50 feet high, and the cat is 15 feet off the ground straight up in the trunk of the tree. length of ladder=25ft

cat is at height of 15ft

From pythogoras theorem

(25)^2=(15)^2+X^2

625-225=400=X^2

X=20

The distance at which the ladder is to be put from tree is 20ft
