Let resistance of all resistances be R (each) .
According to law of combination of resistances , equivalent resistance of resistances connected in series = R + R + R + ........ . So , equivalent resistance will be more than R (obviously) and hence overall resistance increases.
Now according to law of combination of resistances connected in parallel , 1/equivalent resistance = 1/R + 1/R + ......... . So , equivalent resistance which we would get will be less than each individual resistance and hence decreases .
e.g. Let one resistance be of 2 ohms and other of 4 ohms then equivalent resistance becomes 4/3 ohms which is even less than each of the individual resistances.
When 1C charge passes through the cross section of the conducter in 1 second then the current flowing through the cross section will be 1 Ampere.
