Hey Akanksha,
This Question Belonging To NCERT Class 11 th Chapter 8 Solved Example 8.1 is based upon the principle of The Elliptical orbit of a planet and also relates a main part to Kepler's Law, but in the solution in NCERT it is not given that much clear to understand, So
Now, The Solution is given below:-
At Any point, the radius vector and the velocity vector of a planet are mutually perpendicular. Angular Momentum of the Planet at the perihelion P is,
(Continue further to Picture for next Few Steps).----------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
(After the Picture Solution is Referred now is continued below):-
To transverse BAC, area swept by radius vector = Area SBAC
To transverse CPB, area swept by radius vector = Area SBPC.
But Area SBAC > Area SBPC.
From Kepler's Second law, equal areas are swept in equal times. Hence the planet will take a longer time to transverse BAC then CPB.
Please Read it Carefully so that You can Understand Easily, If any Doubt You can ask me... And Remember that you have to refer 1st the above text, 2nd from picture and lastly from Lower Text..
Thanks You Soooo Much for asking the question....
I hope it helped you......
