Kinetic energy of the particle is given by -

KE = 1/2 mv²

Thus, percentage error in measurement of kinetic energy is given as -

∆KE/KE = ∆m/m + 2∆v/v

Substitute ∆m/m = 0 & ∆v/v = 40 %,

∆KE/KE = 0 + 2 × 40 %

∆KE/KE = 80 %

Therefore, error in the measurement of kinetic energy is 80 %.
