Answer:

1st, 2nd and 3rd cat weigh 6, 3 , 7 kg respectively

Step-by-step explanation:

let 1st, 2nd and 3rd cat weigh x, y and z kg respectively

x + y = 9       ..... equation 1

y + z = 10       ........equation 2

x + z = 13     ............equation 3

subtracting  equation 3  - equation 1

 ( x + z = 13 )

- ( x + y = 9  )

=> z - y = 4            ....equation 4

subtracting  equation 2  - equation 4

 ( y + z = 10 )

- ( z - y = 4 )

=> 2y = 6

=> y = 3

applying y = 3 in equation 1

x = 9 - y

=> x = 9 - 3 = 6

applying x = 6 in equation 3

z = 13 - x

=> z = 13 - 6 = 7

therefore x, y, and z are 6, 3 , 7

so the cats weigh 6, 3 , 7 kg respectively
