Answer:

40 and 16 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Kiran's present age be x years.

Then Rakesh's present age = (x - 24) years.

10 years ago,

Kiran's age = x - 10 years

Rakesh's age = x - 24 - 10

                      = x - 34

ATQ,

x - 10 = 5(x - 34)

⇒ x - 10 = 5x - 170

⇒ 170 - 10 = 5x - x

⇒ 160 = 4x

\dfrac{160}{4} = x

⇒ 40 = x

Therefore, Kiran's age is 40 years and Rakesh's age is (40 - 24) or 16 years.

Answer:

Kiran = 40

Rakesh = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Kiran is 24 years older than Rakesh .

Let the age of Kiran be x .

Then the age of Rakesh = x - 24 .

10 years ago

Kiran's age will be x - 10 .

Rakesh will be x - 24 - 10

                     = x - 34

Given :

x - 10 = 5 ( x - 34 )

= x - 10 = 5 x - 170

= x - 5 x = - 170 + 10

= - 4 x = - 160

= x = - 160/ ( - 4 )

= x = 40

Hence Kiran's age = 40 .

Rakesh's age = 40 - 24

= 16

Hence 40 and 16 are your answers .
