kitchen knives have very sharp edges and if the edges is not so sharp it is not easy to cut vegetables. give reason why?

it is because when the area is less pressure will be more. now in this case area of sharp knife at its tip is less so the pressure will be more and the vegetables will be cut easily but if knife is not sharp pressure will be less and it is difficult to cut vegetables
