• Yongle Emperor temporarily conquered Vietnam and tried to overpower Japan. He built a new imperial capital in Beijing.

• Yongle was determined to control trade over the Indian Ocean and therefore, decided to construct 3,500 ships.

• He invited Zheng He to supervise and construct these ships and he created one of the largest marine craft like the nine-masted flagship measured about 400 feet long.
