Potassium Superoxide (KO2) is an oxygen (O2) generator, a dehumidifier (removes water content) and remover of carbon dioxide (CO2). For this reason, it is used in breathing apparatus used in spacecrafts, space suits, submarines and by miners and fire-fighters. Potassium Superoxide reacts fast, to give rise to above reactions.

It has a yellow, solid structure and may be produced by burning molten potassium, in an oxygen filled environment.
