Kufunda is a small village community in Harare, Zimbabwe, consisting of mostly women. It was founded by Maaianne Knuth from Denmark, about fifteen years ago. Knuth was so drawn to Zimbabwe - its people and culture, she decided to go back to Zimbabwe after reaching Denmark.
Kufunda was set up as a community for people from rural Zimbabwe. It was set up as a centre of learning, a place where women can realise the dignity of labour, be resourceful, unleash their creativity and do many other useful things.
Today, it has eco-buildings, sustainable and self-sufficient agricultural eco-systems, renewable energy and a robust health and medical system. It is a community where all its members believe that success and failure walk side by side.
