  • Generally,ionic compunds are soluble in polar solvents,such as H2O.The reason being that polar solvents decrease the electrostatic forces of attraction b/w the ions and leads to bond breakage.
  • Aqueous solutions of ionic compounds are able to conduct electricity since the polar solvents lead to breakage of the ionic bond due to which free oppositely charged ions exist in Solution and hence,conduct electricity.
