Lactobacillus is a lactose fermenting bacteria which occurs naturally in the human digestive system.

They help in digestion of milk. They are also used for production of curd from milk. Lactobacillus is related to other species of bacteria such as streptococcus thermophilus, along with which it is used for production of yogurt
