Lady Macbeth is often hailed as the source of Macbeth's evil, but she never talks about her own gain. Even when she should be all happy as queen, she takes her own life. Is Lady Macbeth just caught in fate here? Was she just trying to do good thing by being a supportive wife? Is good in the eye of the beholder?

Lady Macbeth is Shakespeare's most famous and frightening woman. When we first see her she is already plotting Duncan's murder and she is stronger, more ruthless and more ambitious than her husband. She seems fully aware of this and knows that she'll have to push Macbeth in to committing murder. This is basically a short recap from Lady Macbeth's part in the story. Now your question's answer will come here, in more simplified words your question could be, Do you think it was a good thing what Lady Macbeth did as she never saw her own gain instead she was wanting her husband to be king? You haven't thought of one thing that if Macbeth would be king Lady Macbeth would automatically be queen. She didn't see her husband's gain in this, what she wanted actually was that once Macbeth would be on an exalted position she would also have a great deal of power. She was never contented and satisfied with what she had and through evil and spiteful ways she wanted to gain power. This is obviously not a good thing. So she was not what you call a good and supportive wife. She didn't for once think the consequences and trouble her husband would face after commuting murder. In addition to this she knew that she had done a lot of bad things so she knew that the people would obviously go against her,so to get saved from all this trouble she murdered herself. She didn't think for her husband and what hard times he would face. So she was not a good person.
