We know that Percentage Increase= ((Final Value-Initial Value)/Initial Value)x 100

Final Value= 8.8 pounds
Therefore, Percentage Increase= ((8.8-5.5)/5.5)x 100=(3.3/5.5)x 100= 0.6 x 100
