Last night, I heard a voice in my room. I opened my eyes and turned towards the sound. To my relief, it was my sister. I got up and asked her what was she doing, but she quickly covered my mouth and whispered," Not so loud. I think there are some burglars in our house." She told me that how she woke up to go to the washroom and then she heard a soft click of the front door. Our parents were away to see their sick relative, so we were alone. " We need to do something." I said, " And fast."
"We could call the police. But, the telephone is downstairs."
We pondered hard. I suggested the simplest thing that came in my mind, " Let's go downstairs. You make the call and I will be on the lookout. If I see the burglar and I will signal you."
My sister agreed. We tiptoed down the flight of stairs, thank God it wasn't creeky, and we sprinted towards the telephone. The coast was clear. I don't know why, but, opened the windows and chose a vantage point.
My sister started making the call. I kept on looking here and there. She was just explaining the police about the situation, when someone caught hold of my mouth. My sister started screaming in fright. To let my self free and bit is hand as hard as I could and started kicking and punching him with all my might. My sister had overcome her horror and joined me.
We kept on screaming until our neighbour swung open the door and helped let the burglar stay put. I realized he must have heard us as the windows were open. Soon, the police came in the scene and that is how my exciting adventure ended. Our photos splattered on the newspapers and our parents were proud. It was totally a memorable day.
