Last Sunday I went to the railway station to see off my uncle. The railway platform was overcrowded bustling with passengers, vendors, visitors and railway police. Suddenly there was a bombastic sound.
Everyone was frightened out of their lives. People started running helter skelter. Someone screamed "Bomb! Run".
My uncle and I were the only ones static the rest of the world at the station were a dynamic stream flocking all over the place.
We were too shocked to move. My uncle, who is a heart patient, was panic stricken. He was breathing spasmodically and I didn't know what to do.
I immediately felt his bag and took out his medicine kit . I knew his medicines as I always gave them to him at home. I helped him with the medicines, and started fanning him with the newspaper that he had just bought from the newspaper vendor before the sound.
Slowly he gained his strength and I my confidence. I then looked round and saw many elderly people suffering like my uncle. I began to offer them water and console them with some brave words I could find.
Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning round I found the Commander-in -Chief of the army smiling at me. He applauded me for my good work and said that it was a fake bomb blast the army had carried out to see how the railway staff and the people reacted during the time of emergency.
He was thrilled with my presence of mind and bravery.
Soon life became normal and my uncle bid me farewell. I was given a royal welcome at home as I had become a hero, thanks to the Media who had covered the false encounter. I couldn't help exclaim, "All's well that ends well!
