Answer:

Latent heat, energy absorbed or released by a substance during a change in its physical state (phase) that occurs without changing its temperature. ... The latent heat is normally expressed as the amount of heat (in units of joules or calories) per mole or unit mass of the substance undergoing a change of state.

Explanation:

ANSWER:

Latent heat means 'Hidden Heat'. As we can refer that the heat taken from the surroundings is called the latent heat.

There are 2 types of Latent Heat

  • Latent Heat of Fusion
  • Latent heat of vapourisation

Latent Heat of Fusion:-

The heat taken to convert 1 kg of solid into its liquid state is latent heat of fusion. It occures when we heat 1kg of ice and see no temperature difference during conversion.

Latent heat of Vapourisation:-

The process of conversion of 1 kg of liquid into gaseous state is Latent heat of vapourisation. It occurs when we heat water and it gets converted to steam without any temperature change during conversion.
