Latitudnal and longitudnal extent is 30 depite this why does the north east extent appears smaller than north south extent

This is the fact that Latitudinal and longitudinal extent of mainland India is about 30°. Despite of it, N-S extent is greater than E-W extent. As can be seen in the following figure:

Reason:

As we move from South to North the distance between two longitude decreases from equator (111km) to poles(0 km).

While this distance remain same(111km) between the two latitude.

Since, India is not situated at equator , this same angular extent(30° for both latitude and longitude)will not produce the same linear extent.
