Latitudnal waves jaisa kuchh hota h kya?? And what is the differences b/w transverse waves and longitudinal waves
Answers
There is nothing called latitudinal waves.
Longitudinal waves: Wave motion in which the wave travels in the direction of the motion, and when in a medium, the particles of the medium vibrate in a direction parallel to wave propagation. Longitudinal waves can travel in any medium: solid liquid or gas. Successive extremes of the oscillatiom are known as compressions and rarefactions. Eg: Sound waves, waves on a slinky, etc.
Transverse waves: Wave motion where the wave travels perpendicular to its direction of propagation. These eaves can only be produced in vacuum, gas, or on a surface of a liquid. The extremes of successive oscillations are called crests and troughs. Eg: Light, all electromagnetic radiation: X rays, radio waves, gamma rays etc.
