Law of linear momentum states that a body in motion always retains it's total momentum or we can say "The total initial momentum before collision is equal to the total final momentum after collision"
One of the major application is seen in Rocket Propulsion. The increased forward momentum of the rocket is equal but opposite in sign to the momentum of the ejected exhaust gases.
