We know that during some chemical reaction gases can evolve. And also some products could be formed which could evapourate when Kept in open air.So when containers are not closed they may escape and law of conservation of mass may be violated

when a chemical reaction is carried out in an open container, samas in the form of gas, all vapours may escape into the surroundings and hence the mass in the container no longer remains constant. Hence, the law of conservation of mass cannot be verified if products formed in a chemical reaction are gaseous and if the escape into the surrounding.
