Solution:

Suppose, if two numbers are x and y

then their lcm will be = l and hcf will be = h

Therefore,  

x × y = l × h

x × y =28 × 8

= 224

However,

= 28/8

=  3.5

Since 28 is not completely divisible by 8. Thus the HCF is not 8.
