Hey There,
Leakage of blood vessels does indeed reduce the efficiency of the circulatory system. As you may know, blood contains an essential component called HAEMOGLOBIN which is necessary for carrying O₂ molecules to the various cells, thus increasing the metabolism rate, and provides energy to the body.
A leakage would inhibit the efficiency of O₂ as the path of blood is obstructed by the cut. This is prevented by the action of Thrombocytes or Platelets which cover up the obstruction, making blood flow efficient again.
