Dear Madam:

I wish to state very sadly that my grandfather passed away on September 4, 2017 at 9:45 p.m. after a long illness. He had been hospitalized for the last two weeks. The entire family is grief-stricken. Everyone in the family is in mourning. The funeral is in the evening on September 5, 2017. After that the funeral rites will carry on for almost one week. Since my father is the eldest, I will have to accompany him in all the rites. Kindly grant me a week’s leave, i.e. from September 5 to September 12, 2017. I shall be exceedingly grateful. Thanking you.
