Subject: Help for Kerala flood victims

Sir:

I am writing this letter to appeal to the people of our country to come forward in helping the flood-stricken people of Kerala. Recently one of the worst floods have hit Kerala in decades. Owing to copious rainfall that started on August 8, 2018, all the dams of the state were filled to capacity. The gates had to be opened to keep the dams safe. The incessant rains further deteriorated the flood situation. Approximately 370 people have died in the floods so far. Thousands of homes have been affected and damaged. More than a million people had to take shelter in relief camps. Normal life has come to a standstill. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Kerala.

The entire nation has come forward to lend a helping hand to the Kerala flood victims. Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Multi-National Corporations, Big Business Houses, Celebrities, Sportsmen and women, schools, colleges, and common people have been contributing to Kerala’s Chief Minister’s Relief Fund generously. Even the help from foreign countries is pouring in. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Kerala. Through the medium of your esteemed newspaper I appeal to the people to contribute liberally. Kindly give my views enough space in your esteemed daily. Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,meet sagar

Subject: Donations for Kerala flood victims

To the Editor and the city,

Dear sir/madam,

The main purpose of me writing this letter is to highlight the dire need for support for the Kerala Flood victims.

Recently, the people of Kerala have faced calamity. These floods which began in August 2018 were caused due to heavy rainfall. This unexpected amount of rainfall led to the overflowing of the dams beyond their capacity.

To protect the dams from getting destroyed, the gates had to get opened up.

The already existing flood situation exacerbated when incessant rains further added to the problems.

Looking at the death toll of approximately 370 people, it is necessary for us, as citizens and fellow brothers to help the Kerala victims in need. Not only did they loose their loved ones, in fact, they lost their homes and businesses too. They no longer have a source of livelihood in such a difficult time and they require help from the people.

More than a million people had to take shelter in relief camps. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Kerala.

To all those people who feel for these victims, it is my humble request for you to donate as much as possible to these sufferers.

Kindly give my views your consideration. Thanking you.

Yours faithfully
meet sagar
