Hey dear ur answer is here...

focal length of convex mirror is positive as it is measured in the direction of the light from the central point of mirror. The focal length of concave mirror is negative because it is measured against the direction of the light. ... So the sign difference is necessary in a mirror formula as against a lens formula.

Hope this helps you out....!!

Answer:

Lens formula : 1/v - 1/u = 1/f

Mirror formula : 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

Additional information:

magnification formula for mirror = -v/u

magnification formula for lens =

v/u
