Given :-

dimensions of the floor :-

  • length = 16m = 1600cm

  • breadth = 10m = 1000cm

dimensions of the tile :-

  • length = 20cm

  • breadth = 10cm

here, we've to find the no. of tiles required to cover the floor.

to find the no. of tiles, we've to divide the area of the floor by the area of the tile.

since length and breadths are given , it's clear that both floor and tile are rectangular and formula to find the area of a rectangle is Length × breadth

therefore no. of tiles required to cover the floor = (1600 × 1000)/(20 × 10)

= 80 × 100

= 8000 tiles

hence, 8000 tiles are required to cover the floor.

Answer:

80 tiles.

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to find out the area of the floor.

i.e. Area of a rectangle = l x b

i.e.                                  = 16 x 10

i.e.                                  =160 m

but the tiles are in cm so we need to convert 160 m to centimeter.

1m = 100 cm

160m = 160 x 100 = 16000 cm.

Now we need to find the area tiles.

i.e. also area of rectangle = l x b

i.e.                                       =20 x 10

i.e.                                       = 200 cm.

Now to find the number of tiles required to cover the floor ,

i.e area of floor/ area of tiles

i.e 16000/200

i.e. = 80 tiles.

.

we would need 80 tiles to cover the floor.
