Solution

  • let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm
  • then, length of the rectangle = x + 4 cm

we know that,

 \boxed{   \orange{\bold{perimeter \: of \: rectangle = 2(l + b)}}}

and here it is given that,

perimeter of rectangle = 84 m

 \bold{:  \implies 2(x + x + 4) = 84} \\  \\  \bold{:  \implies 2x + 2x + 8 = 84} \:  \\  \\  \bold{: \implies 4x + 4 = 84 } \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \bold{  : \implies 4x = 84 - 8 } \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \bold{: \implies \: x =   \cancel\frac{76}{4}  } \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \bold{: \implies \: x = 19 } \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:

so, breadth of the rectangle is 19 m

then,

length of the rectangle = 19 + 4 = 23 m

hence, length and breadth of the rectangle are 23 m and 19 m respectively
