Given : Lesle sold her two bikes, one at 10% loss and the other at 20% profit.

To Find : her overall profit percentage if she sold both the bikes at the same price.

Solution:

Let say cost price of bikes = 100x and 100y

CP = 100x + 100y

Sold at 10 % loss = (10/100)100x = 10x

SP = 100x - 10x = 90x

Sold at 20 % profit = (20/100)100y = 20y

SP = 100y + 20y  = 120y

90x  = 120y

=> y = 3x/4

Total SP = 90x  + 120y   =  180x

CP = 100x + 100y  = 100x + 100(3x/4) = 175x

Profit = 180x - 175x  = 5x

Profit % = (5x/175x)100  = 2.857 %

overall profit percentage = 2.857  %
