let a=b
multiplying both side by a
a²=ab
subtracting b² from both side
a²-b²=ab-b²
(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)
dividing both side by (a-b)
a+b=b
now as we know a=b
so a+b = b+b
2b
so
2b = b
dividing both side by b
2=1
how?

Answer:

you have already taken a=b

but in the next step you've subtracted b^2 from a^2.

by solving this the answer is 0....

hence your second step is wrong.....
