Given :   A and B represent the numbers 0, 2 and – 1 respectively on the number line. Points C, D and E are  lying between O and A such that OC = CD = DE = EA

To find : Which rational numbers are represented by the points

C, D and E.

Solution:

O = 0    A  = 2

OC = CD = DE = EA

OC + CD + DE + EA  = 2

=> OC = CD = DE = EA = 2/4

OC = 2/4  => C  = 1/2

OD = 4/4  => D = 1

OE =  6/4 => E  = 3/2

O = 0 B =  - 1

OF = FB

 F = - 1/2

C = 1/2  , D = 1 ,  E = 3/2  , F = - 1/2
