Rational Number are those numbers which can be expressed in the form p/q where q is not equal to 0 and p and q belongs to integers a rational number can be expressed in the form of decimal too.

Say x = 2
and y = 3

It clearly states that x+y =5 ( Product is not following the definition of Rational numbers )
Proving that x+y is an irrational number.

Rational means number between two integer say x and y are 2 and 3 respectively.

=1/2(2+3)
=5/2 or 2.5 ( Rational number of x and y we get which follow the definition of Rational number )
