Old age homes
Sir, — This refers to the letters on old age homes (Nov. 8 & 9). The younger generation is having to adjust to a new work culture. The youth work for long hours and cannot be accused of not having filial attachment.
Such of them who are able to care for their parents will not be affected by the concept of old age homes.

Sir, — The residents of such homes are far from happy. They crave to meet their grandchildren and children. Let us not, as a rule, advance arguments for opening more such homes.

Sir, — Old age homes are the ultimate refuge of the desolate and discarded elderly persons. It is not correct to argue that only those who live alone find comfort in such homes. On the other hand, they are an offshoot of ill-treatment or indifference.
