These are opposed by many people because these large projects displace lot of people and cause great trouble to biodiversity.

Construction of multipurpose project and large dams are both advantageous and disadvantageous. People oppose this because
1-In making projects like these main requirement is a large area and a water source near it. So while construction of these many of the forest area is destroyed.
2-Destruction of forest leads to the animals and birds living in the forest coming to cities and villages. These places are not safe for them.
3.As the trees of that area are destroyed the temperature increases at that place making the habitat difficult
So most the people oppose it.
