Dear Sir,

It gives me immense pleasure in congratulating the Prime Minister and the Government of the day for the bold step they have taken in demonetising 500 and 1000 Rupee currency notes. This step is more laudable as between the Prime Minister's announcement and the time of demonetisation only a period of 4 hours was given.
Due to the Government's action, a lot of counterfeit currency notes will have been removed from the system. These were a matter of great concern especially as a door to terror funding has been shut. Besides this, a big amount of big currency notes were not coming into the banking system nor were taxes being paid on trade carried in the black market with the help of these.
Even though the man on the street will face some problem in the coming days as he struggles to exchange or deposit these notes into Bank accounts, I think India's economy will see better days in the future with this shock therapeutic measure. The prophets of doom are, however, crying hoarse over the demonetisation; but, if the ordinary men and women support this measure as they are presently doing, I feel India will come out a more prosperous nation not too long in the future.
The Government must support the rural population by taking some effective steps, as the banking system is still in its infancy in our villages. This is a very important aspect that requires sensible handling as India still lives in its villages.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully
Ramesh Ojha
