SIR – The recent floods have again highlighted the poor state of our flood defences. The unfortunate people in Cumbria are just an example of the problem.
There needs to be an objective report into land drainage throughout the country. It is long overdue and needs to go back to basics, with completion in just a few months rather than years.
Those living in areas at risk of flooding deserve better.
