Subject: The nuisance of insensitive use of loudspeakers.

Sir,

Festivals are a time of joy everyone look forward to each year. Festivals are a part of our personal, religious, and social life. The problem is not celebration of festivals, but the manner in which they are celebrated. Most of the important festivals of India are celebrated using loudspeakers at high volume throughout the day and all night long.

This is public disturbance and a major cause of noice pollution. The irresponsible use of loudspeakers disturbs the sleep of the public. It interferes with the students studying for exams or their study hours.

The use of loudspeakers should be banned in residential areas and defaulters severely penalised.
